• Hochi Mama (Richmond)

Chili and spice and all things flavour. There is nothing tame about this modern Asian eatery. From the menu, to the cocktails and decor, everything is set to excite.

The green tea bao are cute and messy with rich, sweet vegan mayo and siracha. Crispy tofu made this a yummy snack or starter.

The crispy fried dumplings had skins bubbled and popped. I'd never seen dumplings cooked this way before. The mini parcels are filled with a mixture of fresh veg and drenched with a strong spicy soy.

The char kway teow was beautifully flavoured and charred, but lacking in the veggies I had assumed would garnish the dish.

Overall this place is a lot of fun. Make sure you book, especially on weekends. This visit was to their Richmond restaurant, but you may also like their flagship in the CBD.
