An all-star line-up of tap talent has just hit Melbourne. Yes, tomorrow is the 8th annual Australian Tap Dance Festival. Whether you are a rookie or a pro, you will be able to learn with some of the world's best. And if you are like me, regretting that childhood ballet was never going to be your forte with your strong legs better suited to tap, then now is your chance to be re-inspired.
The week (28 September to 5 October 2019) includes workshops, choreography, technique masterclasses and performances. Housed at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, the festival is designed for all ages and skill levels. Check out the full program.
Guest artists include: Omar Edwards, Winston Morrison, Thomas Wadelton, Bill Simpson, Shane Preston, Jack Egan, Eden Read, Jessie Cram, Darren Disney, Gary Stocks, Tania Chodasewicz and Emma Wickham.
The grand finale will be a phenomenal display at the Festival Gala ‘Rhythm Empire’. Even non-tappers like me are guaranteed to be in awe. Who knows, I may even rethink that youthful dream and begin to feel rhythm in my feet...I will keep you posted.
