• Fitzrovia (St Kilda)

For years now, Fitzrovia has been a family favourite for brunch and for tourists visiting Melbourne. Fitzrovia takes the middle meal to a restaurant experience with attentive service, a full range of menu options and alcohol on the side, if one wishes it. Not only that, but you can book – a definitely advantage for big groups who do not like to queue in the cold.

The polenta chips are well advertised and a welcomed addition to most meals. These are served hot and crisp with truffle parmesan.

The sweet potato fritters are another favourite. These can be quite rich with soft potato mash fried,  grilled field mushrooms and two poached eggs.

The falafel is a good option for those wanting a healthy lunch option. The falafels are moist and the salad tangy and generous in serving.

Falafel salad. Yum!

Overall, this place has a lot going for it. In a courtyard converted into a room, it is aesthetically attractive. There is a range of tempting cakes, which differ daily. And specials for those who are frequent visitors and want to try something new.

Special Mushroom French Toast - very rich, but delicious.
