• Serotonin Eatery (Burnley)

I have been wanting to try this café, for like, well, ages really, ever since it opened in 2015. The aim is simple: delicious food that makes you happy and healthy. Serotonin’s goal is to change your body and mind, one plate at a time.

Perhaps this overly ambitious goal is unrealistic. But the essence remains: delicious food that makes you happy, and gives you a big vitamin boost (that’s great for your health too).

There are a range of tempting treats, smoothies and brunch-style mains.

The ‘Nutrition Bomb’, is a bowl full of colourful goodness. It is like an un-tossed salad. The egg was perfectly poached with a soft yolk and white, the baby spinach was dressed, there was nothing particularly flavoursome, but you cannot help but feel good eating a big bowl of healthy goodness. The serving is huge.

The ‘Positive Pancakes’ are made with banana flour, to be tasty, as well as gluten free.

The coffee is malty and enjoyable.

There is a communal table in the middle; cushions in yellow, grey, and black along the back wall with tables seating bigger groups; a pleasant courtyard and smaller tables cornering the front.
The staff are mostly smiling (as I expect is part of their job description).
