Tucked away on a lonely street corner in Largs Bay, Rockefeller Cafe + Kitchen was a welcomed addition for the local residents.
Sisters Maria and Georgia have done a great job at making this little spot inviting with a touch of cool cafe and a touch of family kitchen. The polished floorboards, kitsch chairs and colourful cups give a certain character, as does the chalk board beautifully displaying the menu.
I ordered the zucchini and corn fritters, and a side of chips after seeing the next table tucking into theirs with focus. The fritters came with grilled tomatoes, rocket and a perfectly poached egg whose yolk oozed as I cut into it. The fritters were moist whilst having a lightly fried edge. The flavours were pleasantly complementary.
There is a tempting array of cakes in the display cabinet – all beautifully homemade with love.
Everyone feels welcome, from school children ducking in for milkshakes, to parents with prams, and workers popping in for a take-away pick-me-up. I’ll let you decided whether it’s more cafe or kitchen. Either way, it is a great spot to recharge with food and comfort.

The chips came with a delicious homemade tomato sauce, which I told was made from tomatoes, onions, apples and other secret ingredients. The sauce was deliciously more-ish.
