My last day in the US, we went for a final brunch in Chelsea. My aunt chose The Americano – one of her favourite brunch places in the area, which she told me had the best green smoothie.
The café is part of the Americano Hotel. We arrived to a sunny sky and sat outside in the courtyard that had only recently been opened.
The menu is classic with a few foreign inspirations thrown in (acai and a Mexican egg dish). I ordered the eggs Florentine. The eggs were well poached but the yolks pale as if originating from sick hens. The hollandaise was thick and pleasantly tangy. A fresh green salad accompanied. Overall it was a pleasant dish, but nothing outstanding.
The green juice made with green apple, kale, kiwi, spinach and mint, was very refreshing.
It was a lovely way to end my trip, with breakfast, sun and conversation. To top off a lovely morning (and to digest lunch) we walked around the galleries of Chelsea being inspired by modern art.
Farewell New York. And thank you for a lovely holiday.
