• Winter (Malvern)

Winter is the fifth café opened by owner Julien Moussi following Bentwood, Stanley, Clubhouse and My Other Brother.  With such an array of award-winning cafes, it is no surprise that Winter has sprung to success.

With an enticing menu, clean modern interior and delicious coffee to boot, our expectations were high and well satisfied.

The Nutella crumpets are more like soft, flat cakes spread with thick Nutella and topped off with fresh strawberries, fried banana and chunks of honeycomb (in case it wasn’t already decadent enough!).

The breakfast bowl sounds like a bowl of mash when I read it on the menu, but it was fresh and delicious and definitely not mash! White quinoa was cooked and mixed in with kale cooked but crunchy and a cashew pesto. Chunks of ripe avo were hidden throughout. Halved cherry tomatoes decorated the edges with a ring of thin yoghurt at the base. The top was adorned with crispy pita strips, toasted halloumi and a poached egg. I was tentative about ordering this dish, but was glad I finally did.

The coffee was strong, well made and pretty.

A lady in the table near us ordered the smashed pumpkin, which also looked a treat. Next time I will be trying the French toast if my taste buds are up to sweetness.
