Stovetop is as busy as you’ll find it, midweek amongst the law school students and academics. It has high ceilings, a charcoal versus stone grey interior and an impressive menu for both your taste buds and Instagram, it is no wonder it is packed every lunch time.
In a flurry, we were seated at the high table, which is more communal than most, before moving to a spot by the back wall. The fit out is swish and modern with clean sleek surfaces in dark and pale greys. It is noisy and lively, giving the impression that it is the only place to be.
The menu has many tempting treats. I opted for the cauliflower burger. Florets of cauliflower were battered then deep fried. It was served on a beetroot brioche with salad, vegan mayo and sweet potato fries on the side.
There are plenty of vego options including scrambled eggs, mushrooms on toast, porridge, avo toast, a wholesome breakie salad, nasi goreng and pumpkin salad.
Coffee is their own house blend. It is well-made well, strong and with pretty art on top. They also serve 5 Senses and single origin.
M, really loved the milkshake. Having lived in United States for so many years, she likes her milkshakes thick. And this one, she described as being just right. It was not too milky, with rich chocolate and a creamy froth. This was the brownie milkshake, and the brownie garnishing the side of the glass was rich, moist and delicious. She even went as far to say it was the best milkshake she had had in Australia.
Come midweek for lunch to see the action, or outside of lunch hours to enjoy the food peacefully.
