Everyone knows their own local neighbourhood café. But how often do you venture to another neighbourhood? Harvest Blend is always busy. No queues (it is too specious for that), and a full menu and coffee that they boast about.
They have reason to. Everytime I have ordered coffee here, it arrives looking spectacular. They also serve single origin and house blend.
In addition they only serve free range eggs, and have a preference for local fruit and veg.
The ‘Chili Scrambled Eggs’ are not as one might expect. Yes, there is a good dose of chili and a creamy scramble, but added to this is an apple and fennel salad with rocket and garlic toast. The apple was slightly tart, which balanced against the richness of the eggs and generous chunks of fetta. The garlic toast was delicious alone, and didn’t need the other ingredients to render it tasty. The hint of fresh fennel added an extra interest.
Other vegetarian options include a greens, smashed avo with eggs, smoothie bowl, and for those wanting to indulge in desserts: waffles and French toast.
On Toorak Road, right before it becomes the Burwood Highway, Harvest Blend is a convenient, and also notable place to relax or socialise. The menu has that spark of creativity, but it is the coffee that is the highlight.
