With the growing popularity of Swan Street, there is now so much choice when it comes to eating well. From cheap and cheerful Vietnamese to your on-trend favourites, there is something for all taste buds.

Botherambo is at the Punt Road end of Swan, and at the finer end of fun dining. A fancy bar with delicious cocktails and tasty Asian-Fusion fare, it’s the perfect spot for a dimly lit date, or lively catch up with friends.

This was my third time at this spot. And it seems the menu has been different each time I’ve visited. Curries, spice, chilli and Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese staples; they are the go.

The stir-fried eggplant noodles were delicious. Wok cooked with lots of chilli, the thick rice noodles were flavourful and some. The eggplant was cut into large chunks and cooked just enough to leave a firm texture. Holy basil was fried until crisp. Pureed pumpkin lined the dish, giving the presentation that extra bit of flare.

The vegetable curry was extremely creamy with lots of thick coconut cream. Vegetables included green beans, potato, Chinese broccoli, and eggplant. There were also a few pieces of tofu. This was spicy and creamy, but not as exciting at the noodles.

The togarashi chili fries were yum with spiced seasoning and a tangy Japanese mayo. They could have been crispier, but we still gobbled them all up!

Vego options I will be trying next time will be the vegan dumpling soup and the mushroom bao.
Cocktails are amazing here. The signature Botherambo is a must. Made with pandan, banana and mango, it will give you the taste of the tropics, and a recovery from all the spiced food.
