There is nothing more welcoming than ‘Vegan Menu’ written in large letters. I stumbled across Viet Pearl late one afternoon of a public holiday (I may not have found it amongst the plethora of restaurants lining High Street otherwise). This place is your typical, happy go lucky Vietnamese restaurant: basic décor, good food, cheap food and relaxed.
There are many tempting dishes on the vegan menu including stir fries, noodles and soups.
The wonton noodle soup arrived hot with plenty of veggies. The broth was sweet but tasty. The dumplings were mainly filled with grated carrot. There was also tofu for a balanced vegan diet. As authenticity demands, it was served with chilli, fresh lime, beanshoots and mint on the side.
On a late afternoon it was not full, but still popular with local arriving for early dinners/late lunches. Service was polite. Whilst there were friends, Tinder dates and family meals all happening around me, I’d be back for a casual meal, or a group dinner to share and try more dishes.
