Loco Coffee is what you would expect a small neighbourhood café to be – big on community, simple on food.
Set along the busy Glen Huntly Road, you could easily miss its unassuming façade. The interior is simple and cosy. There are also tables outside.
The menu includes decent coffee, eggs on toast, seasonal greens for vegans and happy classics like shakshuka and smashed avo for the real Melbournians.
The food is simple, generous in size, well priced and unpretentious. My shakshuka was served warm, with the tomato base reduced down to an intensely flavoured sauce. The eggs were perfectly runny.
The avocado smash was likewise simple but as you would expect.
There is nothing outstanding about this café. But if you are wanting a low key, tasty, meal with no fuss or frills, then the staff at Loco Coffee will make you feel right at home.
