• Sapa Hills (Footscray)

Sapa Hills ha been known as the best Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne for years. This was my third time to the Footscray location, and again I was impressed.

It is busy (re-coining the term, cheap and cheerful), you are sat close enough to feel like the adjoining table is part of the family, and you will have to raise your voice to be heard.

There are several tasty vegetarian options.

Spring rolls can be made vegetarian. These are tightly wrapped and deep fried.

Vegetarian Spring Rolls

It is hard to go past the caramelised tofu, eggplant and mushroom hot pot. This is sweet and hot with lots of spring onion, coriander, and flavour.

Delicious and sweet eggplant, tofu and mushroom hotpot.

Flat rice noodles are always a fave for me. These are done with greens, cabbage, beans sprouts and chili.

A sure tried favourite: flat rice noodles.

Other vegetarian options include salt and pepper eggplant or tofu, and vegetable and tofu stirfries.

Sapa Hills also have a restaurant in Hawthorn. I have tried this several times too, but the food just isn’t as good as at the original Footscray one.
