This authentic pizzeria and pasta restaurant on St Georges Road, Fitzroy North, is casual but fun with a broad menu and lots of space for big groups. The layout is set up around the pizza oven and counter in the centre. It is reasonably priced and BYO too.
The pizza was really good. We tried the Rustica. The chewy, woodfired base was topped with thinly sliced eggplant, cherry tomatoes, basil, for di latte and buffalo mozzarella. It was a really tasty combination.
The buckwheat, lentils, kale and goats’ cheese was well balanced, filling and tasty.
Everyone loved the sorentina gnocchi, which was on as a special. Soft gnocchi was mixed with Napoli sauce, and topped with cheese and oven baked.
The food was good. The atmosphere was very casual. I’d recommend 1000 Lire as a relaxed place for group bookings.
