• De Mad Hatter (Docklands)

De Mad Hatter specialises in breakfast, with a modern and quirky, but classy, take on the Alice in Wonderland theme.  I was invited for a mid-week breakie with fellow foodie bloggers.

The home-made Bircher Muesli resembled dessert with tangy raspberry and passionfruit coulis; pepitas adding bite to the otherwise smooth texture; muesli soaked to rehydrated strawberries, blueberries and apple; and layers of yoghurt and fruit (including fresh whole raspberries).

The coffee was made with a full and thick froth, and was milky.  De Mad Hatter uses Gigante beans, but in a tailor-made blend.

With a number of choices for hot breakfast, I opted for a vegetarian version of the DMH Signature which included fried eggs, over an ‘oven baked cheesy tortilla', and salsa.  The tomatoes were mixed with beans and basil with an extra sweetness.  The eggs were well-fried and covered with melted cheese.  The tortilla was more like roti bread.  I enjoyed this dish as it was different to the usual eggs on toast, providing a hearty meal.

Open for breakfast and lunch five days a week, De Mad Hatter seems to provide a reliable standard of food in a cool setting.
