Located on the busy strip of High Street, Grapeseed caters to those who never leave their own suburb and don’t know the meaning of good food.

The setting is pleasant with clean, white walls, open space and casual decorations.  The staff all seem young and local.  The food is unexciting and expensive.

I ordered the chickpea salad finding little on the menu appealing.  The chickpeas were mixed with broccoli, fetta, boiled pumpkin which would have been nicer roasted, cucumber and sun-dried tomatoes.  Without dressing or flavour, the meal was bland and disappointing (although no doubt healthy).  Despite this, my meal of the salad and a coffee cost over $20.  I could whip this up at home within 10 minutes, but I would at least include an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.  If I were really feeling adventurous, I would roast the pumpkin and fry the chickpeas in paprika, chilli and cumin too.

My friend ordered the vegetarian wrap, which actually came out as a Panini.  She said it was tasty, but equally expensive and uninspiring.

Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with my friend, who had just returned from overseas, Grapeseed was a waste of time and a waste of money.
