This was the second time I had been to Blossom Thai.

At 8pm on a Friday it was full, but the food still came out quickly and with a smile that instantly put me in a good mood.

The great thing about this place is that it has many vegetarian dishes. In fact, nearly everything has a vegetarian version. I ordered Phad Thai and Gaeng Massaman curry. The Phad Thai was more traditional than some with the inclusion of tamarind (the essential ingredient which many restaurants seem to exclude) but no chilli. The curry was creamy and delicious with broccoli (I love the way broccoli soaks up the flavours of a good curry), snow peas, carrot, potatoes, tofu and pineapple. The only downside was that the potatoes were so undercooked that they were still crunchy.

For dessert I had the banana fritters which were perfect. The fritters had been properly cooked so that the banana wasn’t raw on the inside and the outside was very crisp. They were served with vanilla ice-cream and honey. Yum.

Other tempters on the menu include a full range of curries, Gaddo Gaddo and vegetarian entrees which the waiter told me (as if scripted) “taste sensational”. Also on the dessert menu is sticky date pudding, coconut ice-cream and banana sticky rice.
